Tra Vinh is a province of the Mekong delta, lined by the provinces of Ben Tre, Vinh Long and Soc Trang. The city is located between rivers Tien and Hau. The center of Tra Vinh is 130 km from Ho Chi Minh City and in 100 km from the city of Can Tho.
Tra Vinh is considered to be one of the provinces of high potential of cultural, historical, maritime, river tourism. It offers also natural tourism with its coastal dunes specialized in fruit orchards. In particular, the discovery of cultural tourism is highlighted in the former three ethnic groups Kinh, Khmer and Hoa present here and with 142 unique Khmer temples, you can't find in districts and cities of the province.

Best period to visit Tra Vinh
You can come to Tra Vinh all year round because this place is beautiful at any time. However, the rainy season in Tra Vinh starts in May and ends in November and the dry season runs from December to April.
For each season, Trà Vinh has a different beauty. If you like joy and entertainment, come here in July or lunar October of each year because at these times there are festivals. In summer, you can enjoy fresh seasonal fruits in the garden. Trà Vinh always has its own beauty no matter the season, so come as soon as you have a moment!
Tra Vinh is famous for many festivals, including the Chol Chnam Thmay Festival - a traditional Khmer ethnic festival in the south. On April 14, 15 and 16, the Khmer people will organize the dance of Mien and release the paper lanterns into the sky. This will be an opportunity for interesting experiences.
By motorcycle or car. 200 km from Saigon, you can go there in two directions between Saigon and Tra Vinh: follow Highway 53 or take Trung Luong (the road is wider and shorter than the national road 53, about a dozen of kilometres). Remark: if you want to ride a motorcycle, make sure you have vehicle papers, insurance and driver’s license.
By bus. In Saigon, you can buy tickets to go to Tra Vinh at the West Bus Station or you can book tickets from one reputable transport companies.
The most impressive along the Tra Vinh road are the many temples and pagodas. They are built according to many different styles and architectures. You will be surprised by the number of temples belonging to ethnic groups Khmer, Kinh and Hoa built here (Not far from 150!). The architecture of each temple has a unique feature: no temple resembles any other, which you will not fail to notice when visiting the special tourist attractions of Tra Vinh such as the pagoda Ong Met, Bao Mon, Ap Soc, Ang and Hang...
Ba Dong Beach
The Ba Dong Beach, located on the commune of Long Hoa, in the district of Duyen Hai, is a place where the French have explored and built resorts so that officials can bathe and rest. Although it has been known for so long, Ba Dong Beach has preserved the original features of white sand, clean water, fresh and calm air.
Ba Om Pond
Ba Om pond is located in group 4, district 8 of the municipality of Tra Vinh (former hamlet of Ta Cu, commune of Nguyet Hoa, district of Chau Thanh). Its surface is 10ha. This pond is also called the square because of its shape. Ba Om Pond is considered one of the most beautiful landscapes of Tra Vinh and the Mekong Delta. This place is very cool and quiet. Around the pond are found high sand dunes, covered with perennial trees with roots coming out of ground forming strange and magnificent forms.
The Hang Pagoda
The Hang pagoda is in group 3, town of Chau Thanh, district of Chau Thanh. It bears the name of Hang because the architecture of the door looks very much like a cave. The space of this pagoda is quite large with half the area covered with a natural forest of many ancient trees that house many birds. The Hang pagoda plays an important role in Khmer spiritual life. It is a place of moral education that preserves the traditional cultural and artistic values of Cambodians. The young Mien will have to go to the temple and remain temple there to pray and have their soul cleaned. In addition, a fairly large children’s school was built inside.
The Âng Pagoda
The Ang pagoda is the oldest pagoda of the Khmer pagoda system, located in Ba Om pond, in district 8 of the city of Tra Vinh. The pagoda has a rather unique architecture with a natural, pure and harmonious beauty.
The Co Pagoda
The Co pagoda is also known as the Nodol pagoda in the hamlet of Giong Lon, commune of Dai An, Tra Cu district. Erected in 1677, it is an ancient temple of large area with a Khmer architecture unique to Tra Vinh.
The Vam Ray Pagoda
The pagoda of Vam Ray is the largest Khmer temple in Vietnam, located in the hamlet of Vam Ray, on the commune of Ham Thuan, in the district of Tra Cu. The pagoda has helped to create a new vision for cultural tourism in Tra Vinh province and the Khmer pagoda system in the south. The pagoda is beautifully decorated in Khmer style.
The Khmer museum
Currently, there are only two Khmer cultural museums: in Soc Trang and in Tra Vinh. The Khmer Cultural Museum of Tra Vinh was inaugurated in 1995 in group 4, district 8, city of Tra Vinh. It contains numerous objects testifying to the spiritual life and culture of the Khmer people in the Mekong Delta.
The ecotourism area of Rung Duoc
Not far from Ba Dong Beach, the district of Duyen Hai is also endowed with a mangrove forest of more than 200 ha. For more than 20 years, the ecotourism area of Rung Duoc is a place of conservation and reproduction of fauna, including wildlife, birds and many marine animals at risk of extinction.
